Paul's Easy Tomato Sauce
- 3 Tbs extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 medium red onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, roughly chopped
- 2 14oz. cans whole or diced tomatoes
- 1 Tbs tomato paste
- 5 - 7 large basil leaves, sliced into thin strips
- 2 Tbs oregano leaves, roughly chopped or left whole
- Salt to taste
- Add the onion and a pinch of salt and cook for about 7 minutes until the onions soften and start to brown a bit
- Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Add the tomato paste, basil, oregano and tomatoes to the pan.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally, for approximately 20 minutes or longer, if desired.

ok, chef paul, you've inspired me......as much as i like making things from "scratch", i usually just reach for the old jar of Classico sauce, or whatever else looks not too high in calories or fat....but the next time i make tomato sauce, i'm gonna use your recipe and i'll report back to you .....loved the video!
Paul, that was such a good video! I've never been a food network fan, but I do like CWP! I've already made your sauce recipe a few times, and I love it, but thanks for showing those great knife skills again - i really need to practice that!
