The Big Design Project- The Befores

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that I had a big design project in the works.  It is still most definitely in the works, and no where near finished, but I thought I'd go ahead and share a little of it with you...

First of all, let me just say that I have the best in-laws.  Seriously, they are amazing!  When my friends complain about their in-laws and I have nothing to say, I think about Bill & Teri and I am SO GRATEFUL to have them in my life.  They are both some of the most genuine, generous, and loving people I have ever met.  And in fact, they are so generous and loving that they have given me an amazing opportunity to do two of my favorite things- shop and decorate!  That's right, my wonderful in-laws are letting me {with Paul's help} redecorate their two guest bedrooms!

While I am discovering that this project will take a while to really do things right, I wanted to chronicle a bit of the process on the blog.  Today I am showing you the before pictures.

The first room was Paul's brother's room growing up... now I have to tell you, the bed is always made up for us when we come, and the room is always clean.  Anything that you see out of place in these pictures is that way because we were visiting and we usually spread out all over the place and make a huge mess with our two kids and dog. {sorry about that- but I guess before pictures aren't supposed to be great, right?}

The second room has always been their guest room.

My in-laws are the kind of people that spend their time, resources, and energy on others rather than themselves, which is the reason these rooms have pretty much stayed the same for years.  Their home is always a fun place to be full of laughter and hugs and "I love you's" and I would LOVE for the way their home looks to reflect that same warm and cozy feeling- that's the goal here!

I want the end result to be a surprise for them, so I won't be showing you a lot until they are complete.  But I can't WAIT to finish these up and show you the after pictures.

Bethany, how precious you are!.... those sweet words from you and Joni make my eyes mist up a bit!......anyway, THANK YOU for what you are doing..... i know you love doing it, but still, it’s an effort and we are ever so grateful !.....really, you know those rooms would stay like that until we go to heaven because “home decor” is not my strong suit......i can’t wait for the “reveal”, to see the finished rooms, instead of just a “storage place” for a bed and a night stand!!....Bethany, I love your decorating style,....you and Robin both have “the touch”.......thank You Lord, for my two “daughters”, who love me for the plain vanilla “me”, but also that they love to add the sprinkles of zest to my life.......what a joy and blessing they are!!
